Each artist goes through a juried process to ensure their art is unique, not mass produced, and the highest of quality. The artwork is judged at the festival and awards are issued to the artists. To show their commitment to identifying the Old Town area as the Arts & Design District, the City installed archways over the main entrances to the district. Eventually, flower baskets, flower boxes at windows, benches, out door sculptures and bump out curb dining complemented the experience in the district. Born and raised in Duluth, MN, the landscape around Lake Superior gave me a beautiful palette of water, sky and forest to inspire my work. I have lived in a number of places in the US over the years but the scenes from the Great Lakes region continue to be the main focus of my creativity.

The Carmel Arts & Design District received its cultural district certification in 2010 from the Indiana Arts Commission, who advocates for engaging with the arts to enrich the quality of individual and community life. The Magdalena Gallery of Art displays both traditional and modern works, but the gallery’s primary focus is contemporary art. Artists represented include internationally known artists, as well as local favorites in various stages of their careers. Owner and Mexican native Magdalena Hoyos-Segovia is an internationally known professional artist who had a lifelong dream to open her own gallery. Upon seeing the vision of the Carmel Arts & Design District, she and professional artist Mary Johnston opened the gallery in December 2006. Because of their talents, they are able to offer a variety of services and styles to the art buyer.

Also not yet sailing but available to book is Utopia of the Seas, the new Oasis Class vessel that will debut in July. Utopia of the Seas sailings through April 2025 are now open for bookings. Star of the Seas is the newest Royal Caribbean ship that you can book right now. While the ship isn't yet sailing, its initial sailings scheduled for August 2025 are already on sale, as are future sailings through April 2026. Royal Caribbean also has two more vessels similar to Icon of the Seas on order from shipyards for delivery in 2025 and 2026.

Moreover, Icon will have a long lineup of other energy efficiency initiatives onboard, all of which help to contribute to Royal Caribbean Group's goal of introducing a net-zero ship by 2035. Even though Meyer Turku's time with Icon has come to an end, they're hard at work building Star of the Seas. Plus, the first steel for the third Icon Class ship was cut in mid-January. All new suites, excluding the Sunset Junior Suite, are part of the Royal Suite Class' Sky or Star Tier, meaning that they come with all-day access to Coastal Kitchen and The Grove Suite Sun Deck. Icon of the Seas will offer 7-night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami, Florida.
